:dateline:The Punjab BJP on Thursday decided to boycott the joint legislators� meeting with the Akalis scheduled later in the evening and the cabinet meeting on Friday over the issue of police action in murder bid on Rajesh Joshi, brother of cabinet minister Anil Joshi.
The decision was taken today afternoon in a meeting of the BJP state executive and the party legislators. A spokesperson of the party said earlier Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal had assured that proper action against the accused would be taken by Sunday, March 8.
The spokesperson added that the party waited for days but instead of fulfilling the promise, the Akalis openly worked against BJP leaders in election of mayors and presidents of various civic bodies. The meeting noted that Akali education minister Daljeet Singh Cheema had after getting an Akali councillor elected in Anandpur Sahib reportedly said that they took the help of Congress councillors to teach a lesson to BJP minister Madan Mohan Mittal.
Anil Joshi has already announced boycotting the assembly. He has alleged that police were preparing a weak case against the main accused and helping them in getting bail.
