The march took off from Gurdwara Khalsa Diwan (Hukki Chawk) in Faridkot and went through different areas of the city to raise awareness. The march was organized under the leadership of S. Jaspal Singh Heran, chief editor of “Daily Pehredar”. A number of Sikh organizations helped organize the march.
Marchers raised slogans in favour of Sikh political prisoners and Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa, and also condemned anti-Sikh activities of the Punjab Government.

“Punjab and Centre Government are both trying to diffuse the movement. They do not want Sikhs to raise their voice for the release of political prisoners,” said S. Jaspal Singh Heran.
A memorandum was given to Narinderpal Singh, Faridkot Tehsildar (district official), who promised to deliver the message of Sikh organizations to the Punjab State Government through the District Commissioner.
Three additionalmarches are being planned in Punjab:Bathinda (March 5), Baranala (March 7) and Firozepur (March 9).
