Panthik Bodies Announce Protest in New Delhi over issue of Sikh Prisoners

Protest in DelhiCHANDIGARH, Punjab—In wake of hunger strike of Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa at Ludhiana, Punjab based Panthik organizations and Sikh intellectuals have announced to stage protest for permanent release of Sikh political prisoners at Jantar-Mantar on March 3.

Various Panthik bodies, including the United Akali Dal, Dal Khalsa, Akali Dal (Panch Pardhani), Akali Dal (Amritsar), Sikh Youth Federation Bhindranwala and Bahujan Samaj Mukti Party will take part in the protest. They also have planned to hold procession from Jantar-Mantar to Rashtarpati Bhawan to express their anger.

Talking about Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa who is on fast unto death for 38 days, they said they would not allow to give meal to Khalsa and forcibly end his hungerstrike.

The meeting held in this regard at Gurdwara Gursagar Sahib was attended by Sikh historian Dr. Gurdarshan Singh Dhillon, Justice Ajit Singh Bains’s son Rajwinder Singh Bains, Surat Singh Khalsa’s son Ravinderjit Singh and daughter Sarvinder Kaur, Akali Dal (United) leader Gurdeep Singh Bathinda, Sawaran Singh IAS (retd), Parshotam Singh Fagguwal, Bhai Balwant Singh Gopala, Jathedar Gurnam Singh Sidhu, Jaswinder Singh Brar, Bahadar Singh Rahon, Wassan Singh Jafarwal, Kanwarpal Singh Dal Khalsa, Bhai Harpal Singh Cheema, Jaswant Singh Mann, Khushi Ram IAS (retd.) etc.
