  1. An interview by Organization for Minorities of India with Surinder Singh Pachisa, a journalist in Chandigarh, Punjab, who was arrested and released on February 26, 2015 for covering a hunger strike for release of Sikh political prisoners by Bapu Surat Singh.

In this interview, Surinder discusses the details of his arrest, how police threatened to falsely charge him with murder, and how social media helped free him by spreading news of his unlawful arrest.

    OFMI Host Steve Macías says:

“I had the great honor of interviewing the well-know Punjabi journalist Surinder Singh about his recent arrest and the attack on free speech in Punjab, India.

“Surinder has been the target of senior state officials who want to squash any political dissent in the region, yet through social media enough political pressure was put on the police to release him.

“Pray for the people of India and for those like Surinder who choose to speak the truth regardless of the great cost.
