Day 33: Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa’s Body Shows Signs of Physical Deterioration

No Intervention by Central or Punjab Government

LUDHIANA, Punjab—Physique of Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa is deteriorating day by day, but the Indian Government is not taking any notice of his demands. Punjab Government has also expressed helplessness in this case, stating that only Central Government can ensure the release of Sikhs. It is notable that Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa is on hunger strike since January 16 for the permanent release of Sikh detainees who have completed their life terms.

A team of doctors appointed by the civil surgeon and district administration checked Bapu Ji’s urine. Dr. Avinash Jindal told Sikh24 that ketones have been found in his urine, which indicates the deterioration of body muscles. He said that the doctors tried to give Bapu ji medical treatment, but he refused to accept any option.

Talking to the correspondent of Sikh24, Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa said that Central Government should ensure rights of minority communities.  “Currently, India is only concerned about the rights of the elites, however this will cause huge disturbance across the country one day.” He requested the Central Government to consider ways to ensure the permanent release of Sikh political prisoners.  Bapu ji stated that though he is becoming physically weak, but he is spiritually strong.

It is worth mentioning that the struggle commenced by Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa has united the whole Panth on a common platform. Even the staunch supporters of armed struggle have favored Bapu Ji’s campaign.  Various organizations are making efforts on their level to bring awareness of Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa’s morcha.

An in-depth interview with Bapu ji was also conducted earlier today, recordings of which will be shared shortly.
