:dateline:While due to his old age and 30+ day hunger strike, Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa is facing varioushardships, his family members are also being threatened by the police.
Bapu ji’s family members are currently in Punjab to support their father’s campaign, however the police has made it extremely difficult for them to carry on their day to to day activities there.
Bapu Surat Singh’s family told Sikh24 that their father is being harassed and pressed to end his hunger strike. When he was arrested, his dastar wasremoved on the way to the hospital. He also fell down and was not given any medical attention. Police also confiscated his phones and other belongings forcibly.

“Our father is not holding a political campaign, rather his struggle is completely peaceful and just. Why the police is constantly threatening us is not understandable,” they said. ”Police is discouraging others to visit our dad. They are uselessly questioning all visitors to the hospital without any reason.”
Bapu Surat Singh started his hunger strike after Bhai Gurbaksh Singh concluded his campaign at Gurdwara Lakhnaur Sahib. He has stated that he wishes to fulfill the ardas performed earlier for the release of Sikh detainees who have already completed their jail sentences.
