TALWANDI SABO (BATHINDA), Punjab—After transferring his son’s posting, the Badal government of Punjab has registered a false case of fraud against Takht Sri Damdama Sahib former Jathedar Giani Balwant Singh Nandgarh’s wife Bibi Sukhdev Kaur in Talwandi Sabo Police station under sections 420, 465, 467, 468, 471, 506, 408, 120B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

However, concerned police inspector Gursher Singh claimed that the case had been registered on the direction of the court of Talwandi Sabo. The case has been registered on the complaint of Amarjit Kaur w/o Teja Singh. The complaint is regarding forged registration of land.

Sikh organizations have expressed deep outrage over the illegitimate actions being taken by Badal government against Jathedar Nandgarh and his family in revenge. They held that such dirty tricks are being played in order to suppress the voice of the Sikh Panth.

It is worth mentioning that Jathedar Nandgarh has been taking a firm stand in favour of the original Nanakshahi Calendar which represents the distinctive identity of the Sikh nation. However, Akali Dal (Badal) and SGPC did not like his stand, playing instead into the hands of RSS, who want to incorporate Sikhism into Hinduism. Therefore, SGPC sacked Giani Nandgarh from the post of Jathedar. All sections of Sikhs have strongly opposed the sacking of Nandgarh.
