Sikh Scholars, Former DGP Extend Their Support to AAP in Delhi

16401_jarnail_singh_aap:dateline:Former IAS officer Gurtej Singh and Dr Gurdarshan Singh Dhillon have extended their support to AAP in Delhi, especially when Aam Aadmi Party has prioritised the issue of drugs in Punjab while campaigning for Delhi assembly. Former Punjab DGP (Prisons) Shashi Kant is already running a campaign on the issue along with two other prominent Sikh scholars through Shiromani Akali Dal.

Issuing an appeal to the people of Delhi and especially the Sikhs, they brought out a written statement that while Congress perpetrated massacre of Sikhs in Delhi, BJP failed to deliver justice. It said SAD had abandoned this issue along with other important issues of Sikhs for political gains and played it according to their short term interests.

“Arvind Kejriwal in his short lived government recommended formation of SIT for probing the massacre and now voters should acknowledge his sincerity towards the issue,” they said in a joint statement.

“SAD led by Badal has been trading the Sikh votes for the personal interests of the Badals whose rule in Punjab has already ruined the state. They claim to represent the Sikhs but have been using the name of the community and its votes for their personal interests only,” they said.

It may be mentioned here that Shashi Kant, who has become a prominent anti-drug activist after his superannuation, had disclosed that when he headed the Intelligence department in Punjab they had prepared a list of drug smugglers and their patrons. This also included names of politicians and police officials who patronized drug peddlars. However the state government had kept it under wraps despite Kant’s repeatedly asking for it.
