AMRITSAR, Punjab—Sikh24 has learned from internal sources that the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) is providing indirect support to the “Lalkar Rally” being organized tomorrow in Sri Amritsar. The rally has been called by Capt. Amarinder Singh to show his strength, however Badal is seeking to benefit from growing rifts between Capt. Amarinder Singh and Partap Singh Bajwa by supporting the rally.
The State Government has issued orders to District Transport Officers (DTO) asking them to provide buses to support the rally. The call by the State Government has come after number of senior Congress leaders backed out and announced not to attend the rally due to political reasons.
Partap Singh Bajwa, along with other Congress leaders are staying away from rally because it has not received the go-ahead from the central Congress leadership. Rifts are increasing between Bajwa and Captain, and there are speculations that the former Punjab Chief Minister may resign from Congress soon.
Senior Congress Leader and MLA Brahm Mohindra who was personally invited by Capt. Amarinder Singh has also announced not to support the rally.
