Jagtar Singh Tara’s Police Remand in Rulda Murder Case Continues

Tara in Punjab:dateline:Bhai Tara’s police remand has continued after court ordered a 5 day remand to police for questioning. �Patiala police had presented the Babbar Khalsa fighter Bhai Jagtar Singh Tara before court of magistrate Jagmeet Singh this past Saturday. The court permitted the police to keep him under its custody for five days. The court has ordered the police to present Bhai Tara before court around 2 PM on Jan 22.

The police told the court that it was to interrogate Bhai Tara in connection with RSS leader Rulda murder case filed against him on July 29, 2009 in Tripari Police station. It maintained that Tara is the master mind of the assassination. The police said that Tara went to Thailand via Pakistan and he is a �deadly terrorist�. They sought permission to keep him in their custody for 14 days as he is wanted in five cases.

Defence counsel Advocate Barjinder Singh Sodhi said that police had presented numerous persons in the Rulda murder case and most of them had been acquitted. He said all knew that Rulda�s murder is connected with asset dispute of a UK based NRI woman. He said the police have taken no action in this direction.

Advocate Sodhi strongly opposed the 14-day remand demanded by the police.

He sought permission to talk to Tara for 10 minutes, which was granted by the court. Tara told him that he did not make any contact with any of his relatives.

When journalists tried to talk to Tara, the latter uttered only a�single word; “chardi-kala.”
