SGPC Dismisses Jathedar Nandgarh, Appoints Giani Gurmukh Singh as Acting Jathedar

SGPC conference:dateline:Going against Panthik aspirations to appeaseSukhbir Badal, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committees executive panel today removed Singh Sahib Giani Balwant Singh Nandgarh from the post of Jathedar of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib Talwandi Sabo. SGPC Executive panel gaveadditional charge of acting Jathedar to Sri Akal Takht Sahib head Granthi Giani Gurmukh Singh.

SGPC leveled allegation against Giani Nandgarh of creating confusion and rifts in community, violating orders of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, misusing post of Jathedar and committing disrespect of Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

Led by President Avtar Makkar, the executive panel met today at Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib. Addressing the press conference, Makkar said decision of removingGiani Nandgarh had been taken after discussing the matter for long.

However, it is evident that Giani Nandgarh has been sacked for his firm stand taken in favour of original Nanakshahi calendar which represents separate identity of Sikhis. Various Panthik organizations have been endorsing his stand. But under pressure of RSS, SGPC implemented amended Nanakshahi Calendar which is close to the Hindu Bikrami calendar. Sikh24 has learned from trusted sources that theAkali Dal (Badal), which is alliance partner of theBJP, had also ordered the SGPC to sack Giani Nandgarh to woo RSS leadership.

Giani Gurmukh Singh is old student of Damdami Taksal and has been serving as Granthi in SGPC for 20 years. At present, he is head Granthi of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. He was given additional charge of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib.
