Bhai Gurbaksh Singh’s Supporters Forced to Leave Delhi, Leaving the Future Of Morcha In Question

  • Singhs Forced to Leave Delhi After Warnings by Police
  • No Gurdwara in Punjab Willing to Support Morcha
  • Heavy Police Deployment at Gurdwara Parmeshar Dwar

LUDHIANA, Punjab—Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa remains steadfast with his demand of seeking release of Sikh political prisoners who have completed their jail terms.  He remains confined in hospital, in a virtual police arrest.  His condition is critical however as claimed by doctors, any further delay in his treatment would have caused severe consequences to his health.

Police has banned visitors to the hospital.  Anyone seeking to visit Bhai Gurbaksh Singh must now get special permission from the Deputy Commissioner.  Members of the press have been denied permission to interview him.

On the hand other, Singhs in Delhi have failed to find a place to start the morcha there.  Bhai Gurpyar Singh and Gurpreet Singh Guri and other supporters of the movement have been forced to return to Punjab where they are actively looking for a new place to hold hunger strike.  Punjab Police continues to monitor their movement and has warned them of consequences if they start hunger strike at a public site.

At present, the future of the hunger strike remains unknown as Bhai Gurbaksh Singh is kept confined from his supporters, who in turn also lack guidance and public support.  Once again, the Government has succesfully hijacked the hunger strike movement just when it had started to gain momentum.

Worldwide Sikh Sangat has continued peaceful protests against Government’s lack of action in India towards release of Sikh prisoners.  In California, USA, a simran event was organized by Sikh Students of Sacramento who performed ardas for his wellbeing and release of Sikh prisoners.  Australian, Canadian and UK sangat have also continued hunger strikes to raise awareness.

  1. I think the Sikh community should hold march in front of White House regarding the violations of Human rights against Punjab and Indian Government.Indian Government is suppressing the peaceful demonstration which is the birth right of every human being. This is a great injustice to Sikh minority and we want intervention of President Obama to raise concerns regarding human rights.
