Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa’s Hunger Strike Enters 57th Day

AMBALA—The hunger strike by Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa for the permanent release of Sikh political prisoners has entered its 57th day. He has lost more than 20 KG of weight since the hunger strike began.

The strike is being observed at Gurdwara Lakhnaur Sahib near Ambala for the permanent release of Sikh prisoners languishing in various jails of India despite having completed their prison terms. Doctors are worried about the health condition of Bhai Khalsa which is very critical and he is on the cusp of death.

On the 57th day of the strike, Sikh activists and leaders met Bhai Khalsa including Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) president Manjit Singh GK, former president Avtar Singh Hit, Bibi Nirpreet Kaur, key witness in Sikh genocide cases, Buta Singh, former INLD district president Kurukshetra, Bapu Gurcharan Singh Patiala, Giani Sandeep Singh, Jaswinder Singh Kama, Surjit Singh, and Karnail Singh.
