Nabha Jail Prisoners Launch Serial Hunger Strike for Release of Sikh Political Prisoners

:dateline:In support of Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa, ordinary prisoners of maximum security jail Nabha have launched a serial hunger strike for the�permanent release of Sikh political prisoners languishing in various jails of India despite having their terms completed.

As per the programme, a Jatha of 10 prisoners will sit on a hunger strike for 48 hours. This Jatha comprises Sukhkiran Singh Sukha, Narinder Singh Chairman, Tarlochan Singh, Jagjit Singh, Hitesh Kumar, Iqbal Singh, Ajaib Singh, Nirmal Singh, Harpreet Singh and Jagpal Singh.

Human rights activist Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur told Sikh24.com that Sikh political prisoners Bhai Lal Singh Akalgarh, Bhai Swaran Singh and Bhai Dilbag Singh who are also imprisoned in Nabha jail deserve permanent release but the government is not doing so thereby�violating their human rights.

Advocate Manjhpur said a total of 450 persons are imprisoned in this jail including 30 connected with thee Sikh freedom struggle. This jail is one of the oldest jail of India where Jawahar Lal Nehru, the�first prime minister of India, was detained by the�British government. Sikh fighters of the present Sikh struggle have deep a attachment with this jail as they were detained in very large numbers here.
