SGPC President: RSS Influence in Punjab Not an Issue

MakkarTARN TARAN SAHIB—President of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee, Avtar Makkar has denied the fact that the rising activities of the Hindu terrorist group Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Punjab will harm the Sikh religion.

Despite the growing activities and increasing branches of the RSS in Punjab, Makkar said that Sikhs are strong enough to tackle such obstacles in their way.

“RSS activities can’t harm Sikhs at all,” he added.

Makkar was here to inaugurate the four days Khalsa Sports Meet in a senior secondary school being executed under the management of SGPC. He appreciated SGPC members and teachers for organizing the Sports Meet every year. He announced a grant compensation of Rs. 50,000 to Maharaja Ranjit Singh Public School.

Avtar Makkar said that SGPC has taken very prudent action regarding the burning of Saroops of Holy Scripture of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji in village Jodhpur. He also claimed that it is RSS elements within the Sikh Community that unnecessarily criticize the SGPC.

  1. Is it right to call an organization as ‘terrorist organization’ without any reason ? Regardless of what political parties say for their benefit, I have always seen RSS people helping people during earthquakes, floods and other natural calamities, also running 1000s of school. It may be a Hindu group but I, along with my family, was helped by RSS people during Uttarakhand floods. They helped everyone, regardless of religion. Even arranged meals for military personnel.
We should refrain from targeting other religions when our brother shave their head and beard for fashion. Do we still remember what the Gurus taught us ?
There are many Hindus in Punjab and if RSS is recruiting them what is wrong with it. I don’t remember seeing any Sikhs in the Shakhas.
We should not brand any group as terrorist group just for the sake of it.
