AMBALA—Bhai Gurbakhash Singh Khalsa’s hunger strike for the release of Sikh political prisoners has entered 27 days, but the government has taken no notice of his demand so far. Bhai Khalsa’s health is deteriorating day by day.
Supporters of Bhai Gurbakhash Singh Khalsa warn that if anything happens to Bhai Khalsa because of the hunger strike, the government as well as Sri Akal Takht Sahib’s appointed Jathedar will be held responsible.
Supporters say that Bhai Khalsa is observing a hunger strike for the second time only due to the promise made by Akal Takht Sahib Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh that he will ensure the release of Sikh political prisoners languishing in various jails of India despite the completion of their terms. They allege that if Jathedar had not made the promise, Bhai Khalsa would not need to go on a hunger strike for the second time.
They question the Jathedar as to why he has not met Bhai Khalsa as chief of the highest temporal seat of Sikhs even after 27 days on hunger strike.
As per information shared by press secretary of Bhai Khalsa, Bhai Gurpreet Singh Guri, Panthik Sewa Laher chief Baba Baljit Singh Daduwal met Bhai Khalsa. Baba Daduwal extended his support to the demands of Bhai Khalsa. Besides him, noted Punjabi singer Ranjit Bawa visited Bhai Khalsa. Bawa said that music industries should also back Bhai Khalsa.
It has also been learned that on December 14, a religious function is being organized on large scale at Gurdwara Lahnaur Sahib where the hunger strike is being observed. All sections of Sikhs have been invited for the function.
