Anandpur Sahib Historical Forts to Get Traditional Look

Sri Anandpur SahibANANDPUR SAHIB, Punjab—SGPC President Avtar Makkar has set up a 12 member committee to give a traditional look to the historical Five Forts of Sri Anandpur Sahib. He has announced it on the occasion of the 350th establishment anniversary of Sri Anandpur Sahib.

S. Raghujit Singh Virk (Senior Vice President, SGPC), S. Kewal Badal (Junior Vice President, SGPC), S. Sukhdev Singh Bhaur (General Secretary, SGPC), S. Rajinder Singh Mehta (Member, Executive Committee), S. Karnail Singh Panjoli (Member, Executive Committee), S. Nirmal Singh Jola Kalan (Member, Executive Committee), S. Dalmegh Singh, S. Roop Singh, S. Manjit Singh, S. Satbir Singh (Secretary), and S. Diljit Singh Bedi will be members of this committee. Vice Secretary S. Jagir Singh will work as a coordinator of this committee.

Makkar informed in a press note that Kar Sewa for providing a traditional look to Forts of Sri Anandpur Sahib has begun and will be completed before 19 June, 2015. He informed that Baba Labh Singh is doing Kar Sewa of Fort Anandgarh Sahib. Similarly, Sant Baba Dilbagh Singh Ji and Sulakhan Singh Ji are doing Kar Sewa of Fort Taragarh. This Fort will be given a modern look and dispensaries will be built inside.

Baba Joginder Singh Ji Dumali wale is doing Kar Sewa of fort Lohgarh. A traditional well will be built inside this fort and a factory to build traditional hand made weapons will be established inside. A memorial commemorating the bravery of Bhai Bachittar Singh Ji will also be built inside this fort.  

Kar Sewa of Fort Holgarh is being performed by Sant Baba Amrik Singh Ji Patiale wale. A library will be established inside this fort commemorating the memories and a historical picture of Bhai Nand Lal Ji. Similarly, Kar Sewa of Fort Fatehgarh Sahib is being done by Sant Baba Bachan Singh Ji Delhi Wale. Academies for teaching Gatka to girls will be established inside this fort. Taking care of a traditional well inside the fort will also be performed by Sant Baba Bachan Singh Ji. He said that a traditional look will be given to the Tahnda Burj of Mata Gujri so that it can be easily recognized by the Sikh devotees.

President Avtar Makkar informed that this committee of 12 members will look after the undergoing work in these forts. “350th Establishment Anniversary of Sri Anandpur Sahib will be celebrated with full joy” he added.
