SRI NAGAR, Jammu & Kashmir—After the September floods, Sikh Relief has continued to support the victims in need of humanitarian aid. The UK based Sikh seva organization first distributed food, clothes, medicines and other aids, and is now planning to distribute flood hit families with cheques worth Rs. 30,000 each.
As per a statement released by Sikh Relief, it has completed a survey of households whose livelihoods and property have been destroyed. As part of it’s continued efforts to support the people, Sikh Relief will put up efforts to assist in the rebuilding of their homes or restoring their means of earning a living.
Sikh Relief stated that Rajinder Singh, son of Posha Singh, from Rajbagh, near the Silk Factory in Sri Nagar, works as a tailor by trade, however his entire shop contents including his sewing machine were swept away by the flood waters. When Sikh Relief were made aware of his situation, he was provided with a new sewing machine and materials to get his livelihood back on track and provide for his family once again.
Sikh Relief has been able to continue it’s efforts with help of the Sangat and Gurdwaras around the world.
