Petition to Rename Aurangzeb Road to Guru Tegh Bahadur Road Gains Momentum

NEW DELHI, India—Just days after being launched, the petition to rename Aurangzeb Road to Guru Tegh Bahadur Road has been signed by close to 7,000 individuals.

The petition by RSP Kohli is intended to be submitted to Najeeb Jung, Lt. Governor of Delhi, requesting him to make the change since Aurangzeb was a tyrannical ruler.  At this point, about 600 signatures are required before it will be submitted to Najeeb Jung.

The petitioner has stated that a road close to the Prime Minister’s residence is named after one of the most tyrannical tormentors of inhuman and barbaric crimes in India.  Kohli states that this road serves as a constant reminder of the horrors Aurangzeb perpetrated against Indians, including his own people.

The petition can be signed at this link: https://www.change.org/p/shri-najeeb-jung-lt-governor-delhi-regain-national-pride-by-renaming-aurangzeb-road-cruel-intolerant-tyrant-to-guru-tegh-bahadur-road-epitome-of-sacrifice-for-all-religions

Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib, the 9th Sikh Guru, sacrificed his life to save the religion of the Hindus who were being forcibly converted by the Mughal regime of that time.  The New Delhi International Airport was initially named Guru Tegh Sahib International Airport, however it was later changed to Indira Gandhi International Airport.

  1. I want to thank the Great Martyrs because of whom I am enjoying my religious freedom. Otherwise today our daughters would be in burkha suffering triple talaq and halala. So I want not only to Rename Aurangzeb Road to Guru Tegh Bahadur Road or to give Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Singh ji’s name to Delhi Airport but to replace Auranzeb’s name with four Sahibzade’s names in whole India and also to name Nanded city after Shri Guru Gobin Singhji.

  2. Aurangzeb Road in Delhi should be changed in the name of GURU TEG BAHADUR, who (alongwith his two disciples) has sacrified his life for the Hindu Community.

  3. It is really unbearable to see Aurangzeb road in delhi, want to break the sign board depicting this name but do so in legal way,
    I support this petition

  4. Aurangzeb not only committed unspeakable atrocities against Hindus, he imprisoned his own father and killed his brothers to occupy the throne. How can we have a road named after this MASS MURDERER in independent India?

  5. Renaming the road to Guru Teg Bahadur Singh ji name will be a good step to provide justice to all of them suffered during Aurangajeb’s rule.

  6. Aurangzeb was not only a tyrant but was a heir to a dynasty which invaded India, killed the natives, imposed their religion and law for centuries. Having a road in his name in my opinion is continuation of the same slavery. Renaming the road to Guru Tegh Bahadur Road will not only be a small tribute to the one of the greatest martyr of this nation, but a step towards complete freedom and justice. And I am looking forward for this petition to be accepted.

  7. sharm ki baat hei ke ek badshah jisne apne junoon ki khatir hzaron ko katal kiya bhagwan ram aur shri krishna ke janam sthan ko nasht karke masjid banwaee guru teg bahadur ji, bhi mati das, bhai sati das & bhai dayala ji ko shaheed kiya aur na jane kitne bekasoor logo ko jabran musalman banaya aur jisne inkaar kiya uska vadh kar diya. eise aadmi ka naam hindustan ki sansad ke paas beshkimti area ke road ko dena hamaari virasat ko gali dene jaisa hei is liye is road ka naam badalna jarrori hei

  8. What an idea!!! Somebody has to take it up resolutely and the support would be aplenty. Aurangzeb road is a stigma on the face of the country. Naming it Guru Tegh Bahadur road would be most apt and a homage to Guru Tegh Bahudur who laid down his life for his people and in a most gruesome manner. The secularists are going to oppose it ……… one only has to go to Aurangabad to see what is happening there…. the grave of this tyrant, aurangzeb, is ever covered with flowers and currency notes. The sad fact is one man villain is other man’s hero ……. till the justice prevails!

  15. It would be better to rename it someones memory who sacrificed their life for good cause instead of a tyrannical ruler who wanted to enslave Hindus.

  16. who sacrificed his life to save the religion of the Hindus who were being forcibly converted by the Mughal regime of that time. Guru Tegh Bhadur ji…waheguru ji da khalsa waheguru ji di fateh…
