Ramandeep Singh ‘Sunny’ – On 17th November, Ramandeep was presented in court as his police remand period came to an end. Despite getting three extensions to the remand period, extensive searches of his property and questioning family members, the police have drawn a blank and not found any evidence. Ramandeep was arrested from Bathinda on 9th November, allegedly in possession of explosive materials. Ramandeep’s legal team urged the Magistrate, it made no sense to keep extending his remand, as the police quite obviously cannot find any proof to back their story. Bearing this in mind, Magistrate Raman Kumar sent Ramandeep Singh to Bathinda Central Jail under judicial remand until 1 December.
Harminder Singh ‘Mintu’ – As his police remand came to an end, the Jalandhar Magistrate gave the police a further 4 days to question Harminder Singh. ‘Mintu’ was arrested by Punjab police when he was deported from Thailand to India and the police were originally granted 8 days to interrogate him. His next court date is 20 November.
Rattandeep Singh – According to the Times of India, Rattandeep Singh recorded a confession statement last week about his alleged involvement in the Sector 34 Passport Office bomb blast, dating back to 1999. He has been remanded to
judicial custody for 14 days.
Jasbir Singh ‘Jassa’ – Co-accused with Rattandeep Singh and a resident of Sector 33, Jasbir Singh was remanded to judicial custody for allegedly providing financial assistance to Rattandeep.
Ramandeep Singh ‘Goldy’ – On 14th November, the court granted an extra 5 days of police remand in which Ramandeep’s questioning can continue, on the condition that he must not be tortured. Next court date is 19th November.
In all these cases, Punjab police are desperately attempting to spin a web of conspiracy and intrigue, linking these recently arrested Sikhs to other high profile names settled around the world, but wanted by the authorities in India.
The punjab police is tending to frame false charges against innocents sikhs and putting them behinds gauges,this is not good for the peace of punjab.punjab government and center government should take some steps in order to stop punjab police to doing such operations.
