BATHINDA, Punjab—Bathinda Police presented Bhai Ramandeep Singh, alias Sunny Khalsa, in the court of chief judicial magistrate Raman Kumar on Monday, but failed to get permission for further police remand.

Sunny Khalsa was arrested by the police a week ago and the latter labeled him a “deadly terrorist,” allegedly belonging to Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).

Police again urged the court to be permitted for further police remand but the court rejected its plea following the opposition of defence lawyer Advocate Harpal Singh Khara, Gurpreet Kaur and Harinder Singh Aklia. Finding that the police failed to collect any evidence from Sunny Khalsa, the court has sent the Sikh youth to judicial remand of 14 days and the next hearing of the case is slated on December 1.

Advocate Harpal Singh Khara said that police has interrogated Sunny Khalsa for 10 days but it failed to present any fact or evidence of his alleged link with any terrorist activity which proved that he is totally innocent.

Advocate Gurpreet Singh said that police failed to present any evidence of the carrying of pistol and other weapons. He said the case was not as per facts and the story was purely fabricated. He said reality will came to the fore soon.

Sunny’s grandmother Bibi Rajinder Kaur, uncle Amarjit Singh, brother Gagandeep Singh said Sunny was innocent and framed in a false case. He alleged that police was harassing him. They sought a CBI probe into the case so that those officers violating the human rights of Sunny could be booked.

Investigation officer DSP Gursharan Singh himself admitted that no concrete evidence against Sunny Khalsa could be produced in 10 days police remand. He said this was the case related to the security of the country and central agencies could provide any detail in this regard.
