Punjab Police Claims Arrested Two More So-Called ‘Militants’

ArrestCHANDIGARH, Punjab—A day after arresting Bhai Ramandeep Singh Goldy from Chennai and terming him an alleged “terrorist” of the Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF), Punjab Police today arrested more alleged freedom fighters of the Khalistan Libration Force (KLF) named Harminder Singh Mintu and Gurpreet Singh Gopi from Delhi airport.

The police said, “Harminder Singh Mintu was wanted in the cases of violent activities and his key aide Gurpreet Singh Gopi had been tasked to execute a conspiracy of targeted assassinations of politicians in 2013 for disturbing the hard-earned peace in Punjab.”

Punjab Police traced and located them in Thailand, in co-ordination with central intelligence agencies. Today, they were brought from Thailand to New Delhi in co-ordination with Thai authorities and arrested at the Delhi Airport by the Punjab Police.

The arrest of Mintu and Gurpreet Singh comes close on the heels of arrests of Rattandeep Singh, alleged chief of Bhindranwale Tiger Force of Khalistan (BTFK). He was arrested from Gorakhpur, UP by a police party of the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) on September 17, 2014.

On Wednesday, Ramandeep Singh Goldy, was arrested by the police in connection with the 2009 assasination of terrorist Rulda “Singh” of the right-wing Hindu Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Patiala and Ambala blasts cases from 2010.

Taking a strong notice of these arrests, Sikh leaders have slammed the police for projecting them as “terrorists”. They said it seemed there is deep conspiracy behind these arrests by Indian intelligence agencies while they pile on unrelated terror cases on various Sikh victims after arrest.
