RSS Opening its Branches in Villages May Cause Communal Tension, Says Capt Amrinder

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Former Punjab Chief Minister and Congress deputy leader Captain Amrinder Singh has warned against the growing influence of Hindu right wing outfit Rashtrya Swaimsewak Sangh (RSS) in Punjab. He stated that the move of RSS to open its branches in villages may trigger communal tension and disturb the peaceful environment of the state.

Capt Amrinder was here to hold a meeting with Party rank and file. After the meeting, he said while talking with media persons that the move of RSS of extending its base in the state may create rifts among various communities.

Commenting on cracks between Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and Bhartya Janta Party (BJP), he said the people got disappointed by BJP like SAD. .

Expressing his views over the Chandigarh issue, he said the stand of his party on Chandigarh dispute is clear and there was no doubt in this regard.

On being questioned on compensation announced for victims of 1984 Sikh genocide, he said that the justice should deliver to the victims in a real sense. Unnecessary delay in delivering justice to the victims has been witnessed and the judicial system needed to be more active.
