Noormahal Cult Organizes Function Under Police Protection

TARN TARAN, Punjab—The Punjab police continue to provide shelter to the Noormahal based controversial cult named ‘Divya Jyoti Jagarti Sansthan’ (DJJS). On Sunday, the cult followers again organized its function in its ‘Satsang Ghar’ here which provoked Sikh organizations to take action.

When the function was going on, Sikhs had planned to stop it but police stopped hundreds of Sikhs on their march towards the base of the cult in the city. Members of Sikh organizations gathered outside Gurdwara Sri Darbar Sahib Tarn Taran to plan to restrain the DJJS function. After being convinced by some police personnel, the function was organized inside the dera premises.

It is worth mentioning that on Oct 28, Sikhs were attacked by the cultists and policemen with their guns in Jodhpur village of Tarn Taran district leaving a dozen Sikhs severely injured, including Damdami Taksal Ajnala head Bhai Amrik Singh Ajnala. Just one day ago, they were discharged from the Guru Nanak Dev Super specialty hospital.

The Sikh organizations have given the ultimatum to the district administration to seal the Dera within two days and completely ban the all kind of activities of Divya Jyoti Jagriti Sansthan, failing which they would take action on their own and the government will be fully responsible for it.

Various Sikh bodies call a meeting at Tarn Taran on 5 November to discuss the further course of action in this case.

Local spokesperson of the cult Onkar Singh said that the followers has organized a function as a routine process but this time on the request of the police administration they organized it inside the Dera in order to prevent any untoward incidents.

As per information available, heavy police force were deployed outside the Dera and to avert any untoward incident all the roads leading to the Dera were sealed for the entire day due to the possibility of a clash.

Sri Akal Takht Sahib Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh took serious notice of the recent activity of Noormahal based anti-Sikh cult that was responsible for leaving Sikh activists injured. He demanded these activities be banned.
