KARNAL, Haryana, India—Senior member of Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC) Amrinder Singh Arora is facing embarrassment over extending support to Hindu right-wing political outfit BJP. Other members of HSGMC have jointly sought his resignation for extending support to the BJP.

On Thursday, Arora called a meeting of his aides here and questioned the authority of the senior most leaders of the HSGMC and said the leaders who had been “expelled” from the Sikh Panth could not ask for his resignation.

He alleged that some of the committee leaders had sold the feelings of the Sikhs to the Congress because of their personal motives. He appreciated anti-minority Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and made false claims that later highlighted the great sacrifices of the Sikhs in the USA.

It is noteworthy that all members of HSGMC except Arora are supporting Congress in the forthcoming state assembly elections, citing the rationale that they later fulfilled the demand of Sikhs in the formation of a separate Gurdwara management body for Haryana.
