Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Committee Divided Over Supporting Congress in Assembly Polls

2014-09-29- hsgpcHARYANA, India—There is no common view within the ad-hoc committee of the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC) over support to Congress in the upcoming assembly polls. Some of the top leaders like HSGMC chief Jagdish Singh Jinda and others have decided to back the ruling party but according to media reports, youth leader Amarinder Arora has struck a discordant tone.

Arora said that leaders excommunicated by Akal Takht have no right to take decisions on behalf of the community. He said that a meeting has been called in Kaithal to take a final call on the matter. The meeting will take place on September 27. According to Arora, there has been no meeting of HSGMC since it was formed. He alleges that some of the top leaders are only trying to call the shots at present.

But HSGMC chief has reportedly denied all the allegations. He has stated that the decision of supporting Congress was taken keeping all the members in the loop. He has also tried to allay the notion that Amrinder Arora enjoys any clout within the organisation. According to Jinda, Arora is an ordinary member of HSGMC and disciplinary action will be taken against him for trying to confuse the Sikhs.
