HIMACHAL PRADESH, India—Organizers of the change.org petition against the FIBA’s turban ban have announced to hold a mass protest against the International Basketball Federation. According to RPS Kohli, one of the petition organizers, the mass protest will take place on September 10, at all 129 schools of the Akal Academy, Baru Sahib located across Punjab and rest of India.

The decision to protest has come after the FIBA has delayed its ruling on the turban ban, despite there being much uproar in the Sikh and other communities worldwide. The petition has already been signed by over 60,000 supporters.

In an email correspondence, RPS Kohli stated, “Taking into account the delay in the FIBA’s decision in still holding the Turban Ban, we together have to take things forward to hit hard on the deaf ears.”

“I, along with 60,000 students studying under The Kalgidhar Society – Baru Sahib are planning a Mass protest against FIBA’s – Turban Ban.”

Further updates from the protest and the turban ban will be shared as they become available.
