SAD-Delhi-led-by-Paramjit-Singh-Sarna-holds-protest-outside-RSS-officeNEW DELHI, India—Led by Shiromani Akali Dal (Delhi), Sikhs in huge numbers on Saturday staged a protest outside the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) office in Delhi, during which they expressed their anger over its head Mohan Bhagwat’s statements terming “Sikhs as part of Hindu religion.”

In his statement, Mohan Bhagwat had claimed that they did not recognize the distinct identity of the Sikh religion and considered it a “part of Hinduism.”

While demonstrating, the outraged Sikhs led by SAD (D) chief Parmjit Singh Sarna said that they need not get any certificate from Hindutva body of fascist nature and they just wanted to convey that such offensive statements against the Sikhs or the Sikh religion would not be tolerated.

Protesters demonstrated black flags to the Hindu fanatic outfit and raised slogans against Bhagwat. The Delhi police had placed barricades to stop the protesters from reaching out at RSS office.

Some SAD (Delhi) workers including Tarsem Singh Khalsa and Bhajan Walia were arrested by the police, when they tried to cross the barricades placed by the police to stop the protesters. The arrested persons were later released by the police.

Besides SAD (Delhi), various other Sikh bodies of Delhi took part in the demonstration but the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) completely stayed away from joining the protesters.
