Abbotsford Nagar Kirtan

Abbotsford, BC, Canada—The Annual Abbotsford Nagar Kirtan took place on Sunday August 31st to commemorate the first Parkash of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. The Nagar Keertan was very well attended by both the Sikh Community and other communities in the lower mainland. The Abbotsford Nagar Kirtan starts at 10 AM every year on the Sunday before Labour Day at Gurdwara Sahib Kalgidhar Darbar in Abbotsford, makes its way through the streets of Abbotsford before coming to a stop at Kalgidhar Park, next to the Gurdwara Sahib, where a Divaan is held outside in a tent until the evening. The Nagar Kirtan features many floats including a Gatka float, many Kirtan floats and floats related to Panthik causes. This years Nagar Kirtan featured the Akhand Kirtani Jatha which did Kirtan on the main float. There was a Gatka show featuring Guru Nanak Dal and its Jathedar Baba Maan Singh at the Gurdwara Sahib after the Nagar Kirtan. The Abbotsford Nagar Kirtan always unites the Sikh Community as many groups are invited and take part in the Nagar Kirtan.
