:dateline:After waiting almost over 12 years, construction to improve the El Sobrante Gurdwara Sahib has finally started. Previous committee members have had architectural designs made to how they wanted the Gurdwara to look but never really had the funding, or money to get the project started.
El Sobrante Gurdwara have had problems in the past when electing it’s committee as various sangat members did not like how the operations�were�being conducted. �In addition, the committee had come in the limelight for various violent incidents that took place at the Gurdwara.
After a few years of controversy on how the committee should be selected the sangat finally agreed to let some of the local youth members of the Gurdwara pull out names�from a box to decide who would represent El Sobrante Gurdwara in the committee. �We are just happy that the sangat has agreed to settle their differences and focus on remodeling the Gurdwara and whats best for the local community,� said Khalsa school students.
The construction began in mid-July and the committee is focusing on re-painting and minor fixings around the Gurdwara premises before deciding if they want to begin the construction on expanding it. �We want to re-paint and fix the things that need fixing. We want to make the Gurdwara look presentable and later decide with the sangat if the Gurdwara needs expanding,� said secretary Inderjit Singh.
