Thurrock’s Sikh Community Rally Round to Help Port of Tilbury Victims

Local Sikhs continued to send food and clothing.

THURROCK, ESSEX—Thurrock’s close knit Sikh community has rallied round to help the 34 Afghanistan Sikhs found in a container in the port of Tilbury.

Since Saturday, members of the community have been travelling from their base at the Sikh temple on Maidstone Road, Grays, to the Cruise Terminal area at the port.

YourThurrock spoke to one of the leaders of the Sikh community, Baldev Gil.

Mr Gil said: “We have just been doing what we can. We have been helping with food and clothing.

“We have also been helped by a number of other temples around the country and have had a lot of messages of support.
