AMRITSAR SAHIB—The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee is in middle of another controversy with the reinstatement of its senior employee and accountant SS Kohli.  Kohli had been sacked by the SGPC, but reinstated shortly after due to pressure from the Shiromani Akali Dal (B).  SS Kohli was found guilty of misusing Gurdwara funds for personal leisure.  His enjoyed a hefty salary of Rs. 10,000,000 annually.

Kanwar Pal Singh, spokesperson of the Dal Khalsa, has alleged that the reinstatement of Kohli has come after pressure from Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal, who has once again proved that he is above the SGPC.

Kohli was earlier sacked by the executive committee of the SGPC, however this decision has now been overturned in less than 24 hours.

This is not the first time an SGPC employee has been charged with corruption and misuse of funds.  Its president, Avtar Makkar, has been blamed multiple times of misusing the SGPC funds for personal matters.
