NEW DELHI—Journalist Bhai Jarnail Singh from New Delhi, who is also a leader of the Aam Aadmi Party, has condemned the decision by the appointed Jathedar, Giani Gurbachan Singh, to excommunicate three Haryana Sikhs.

Jarnail Singh stated that the formation of a separate Gurdwara Committee in Haryana is a direct result of failure of the SGPC and Akali Dal in Punjab.  He posted the following message online to express dissatisfaction with the edict –

“I am failed to understand the logic behind Akal Takht Sahib’s decision to excommunicate HSGPC leaders.

Whether the formation of HSGPC is right or wrong, and whether these Haryana Sikh leaders are playing in the hands of Congress or not is a different matter.

But, the decision of excommunication seems unconventional, and unprecedented.

HSGPC is a result of Shiromini Akali Dal and SGPC’s failures. The blame goes to them and surprisingly the same SGPC urged Akal Takht Sahib to excommunicate HSGPC leaders!”

Jarnail Singh is a respectful figure in the Sikh community. He came to the lime light when he furled a shoe at P. Chidambaram to protest clean chit to Jagdish Tytler by the CBI.  Since then, he has emerged as a strong leader of the Aam Aadmi Party and has spoken at various Sikh conferences worldwide.
