AMRITSAR SAHIB—After having failed to desist formation of separate Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee for Haryana, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Avtar Makkar has announced to stage protest in Jind, Haryana, on July 7.  Makkar stated that the protest is being organized to scuttle the politically motivated move to separate from SGPC.

He also warned that the supporters of HSGPC could face action for allegedly violating the verdict of Giani Gurbachan Singh, appointed Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib.

He said, “We will appeal to the Sri Akal Takht Sahib Jathedar to take action against those behind this move to divide the community. It is the handiwork of some Congress leaders in Delhi, Rajasthan and Haryana. Their only aim is to secure a vote bank. Those who lead a similar campaign had received setback in the SGPC elections in 2011.”

The committee had proposed to set up an 11-member panel of SGPC members elected from Haryana, which would have all rights to manage the Gurdwara affairs in the state, but only after seeking approval from the SGPC executive body.

  1. SGPC has done nothing for the Sikhs post 1984. They are milking the hard earned money from emotionally black mailing Sikhs around the world. If they just spent only 40% of their annual budget on welfare of Gursikhs in India, they Sikhs will be far far economically be better than the most promising community in Inda, the Parsees. And Akal Takh Jathedar is SHOULD HAVE SOME SHAME. HE SHOULD RESIGN OR STAND UP AGAINST THE REAL EVILS.
