Presiding over the meeting of party activists, Dal Khalsa head HS Dhami said that without political backing, drug trade couldn’t flourish. He slammed�the so-called crackdown by state officials against drug mafia, stating that it has not moved beyond arresting either drug addicts or small fishes of this trade. He slammed Badals for denying involvement of politicians, and added that media has already trashed the sincerity and seriousness of the Punjab police while tackling this menace.
The media reports about police filing stereotype FIR’s to show their efficiency has brought the cat out of the bag, he added that investigating agencies are proceeding selectively in the multi-crore synthetic drug racket.
He said to break the nexus of politicians, policemen and smugglers a strong political will was required by the�Chief Minister. However Badals stubborn refusal to acknowledge the involvement of politicians into drug trade leaves no one in doubt that in the end of the day, nothing concrete and positive would come out of state’s pro-active campaign.
While speaking about the on-going tug-of-war between Akalis of Punjab and Haryana Sikh leaders on separate SGPC to run gurdwaras in Haryana, Kanwar Pal Singh said both the sides were misleading the Sikhs.
“Both sides were doing shadow-boxing as they knew well that even if Hooda government passes the bill in the assembly declaring the formation a separate body, the Modi Sarkar at Centre will not approve the same in the Parliament”.
The SGPC manages gurdwaras of Punjab and Haryana under Sikh Gurdwara Act, 1925. The Act has been passed by the Parliament, therefore any new amendment in the act will have to be approved and passed in the Parliament itself.
He said politics have taken over the issue, which was otherwise religious in nature. Keeping an eye on the impending assembly polls, Congress wants to win the hearts of the Haryana Sikhs while putting the Akali-BJP combine in the dock.
Reiterating its principle stand on the issue, Dal Khalsa leadership said Sikhs of Haryana should be given the right to express their choice free from force, fear and greed.�
