:dateline:A Delhi court on Saturday reserved its order until July 2 as to whether the charge of criminal intimidation will be added against Congress leader Jagdish Tytler in a defamation complaint filed by a senior lawyer, appearing for victims of the 1984 Sikh genocide cases.

Tytler appeared before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Gaurav Rao. The court reserved its order after hearing arguments from the counsel for senior advocate H S Phoolka, who has filed the complaint against Tytler for allegedly making derogatory remarks about him in a program aired on a private news channel on September 7, 2004.

While proceeding on the case, the court was willing to hear whether Phoolka would like to go for an out-of-court settlement, but his counsel uttered No and said allegations of a serious nature were leveled against him by Tytler.

Phoolkas counsel argued that not only did Tytler use defamatory language with intent to tarnish his image on a live TV show, but that he also threatened his client. Tytlers counsel argued that summons was issued on the alleged charges of defamation and no fresh charges could be pressed at this stage.
