:dateline:Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener, Arvind Kejriwal, will be visiting Amritsar on June 3rd where he willhold a meetingwith the four newly elected Lok Sabha members of the party from the State. He willalso pay obeisance at Sri Harmandir Sahib, Jallianwala Bagh and other places in Amritsar.
Partys Sangrur MP, Bhagwant Mann, said the AAP leadership had decided to concentrate on Punjab for the next Assembly elections that are slated in 2017. He said Kejriwal would hold separate meetings with the MPs, volunteers, AAP members and supporters in order to ensure proper structure of the partys state unit.
As per reports, senior party leaders Manish Sisodia who has been appointed as incharge of Partys state unit, and Bhai Jarnail Singh (Delhi) would also accompany Kejriwal.
It is notable that the only four seats that the AAP won in the recent Lok Sabha elections were in Punjab. Though a poor performance nationwide, the AAP emerged as a force to reckon with in Punjab securing 24.4 per cent vote share. It managed lead in 33 of the 117 Assembly segments and stood second in 25 others. The SAD got 26 per cent votes (won four seats) while the Congress vote share was 33 per cent (three seats).
