Brampton MPP apologizes for ‘baptized Sikh’ comment

TORONTO, Ontario, Canada—Vic Dhillon, the MPP for Brampton West, apologized on Facebook Thursday for recent comments he made on the social media website. “Integrity is very important to me and I reacted when my integrity was called into question by the NDP candidates from Brampton,” he wrote on Facebook Thursday afternoon. “Regretfully, I posted comments I should not have and I understand those comments were offensive. I want to apologize to anyone who may have been offended. I will continue to work hard on the issues that matter most to the residents of Brampton West.” The comments, which went largely unnoticed, were circulated on Twitter and Facebook Thursday before Dhillon apologized. Dhillon criticized the Ontario NDP and so-called “baptized Sikhs” in the comment. “NDP will say anything because they will never be held accountable. Bunch of garbage. Cheating innocent people. I will remember this and will remind people of the dirty stuff by baptized Sikhs. Totally unacceptable.” vic-dhillon-may-29
