:dateline:Pakistan Government has approved a resolution seeking Parkash Gurpurb of Guru Nanak Sahib to be made a public holiday in West Punjab. �The resolution was requested by local Sikhs and it was approved by the State Assembly on May 28.
Although the founder of the Sikh religion, Guru Nanak Dev Ji, was born in what is now part of Pakistan, Sikhs are a small minority�in the largely Muslim dominated country. �Sikhs in West Punjab have welcomed the decision by the Government.


Just a few days ago, Sikhs of Pakistan had stormed into�the Parliament House to protest against continued sacrilege cases of Guru Granth Sahib Ji.�
