Deeply Worried SAD (B) May Reshuffle Party Structure

Sukhbir_Parkash_BadalCHANDIGARH, Punjab—Following setbacks in the Lok Sabha elections held recently, the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Badal (B) seems to be in a mood to revamp its organizational structure. Party president Sukhbir Badal has called district-wise meetings of the senior SAD leaders at the SAD headquarters on June 2, 3 and 4, confirmed SAD secretary Daljit Singh Cheema.

Reliable sources report that Sukhbir may re-constitute the party’s organizational structure and announce new office-bearers. The party had given rights to the SAD president to select new office-bearers at its meeting in Amritsar about eight months ago. But the process could not be completed due to the parliamentary poll.

In the Lok Sabha polls, SAD (B) has shown poor performance as it secured only four seats so as to be equal with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). In view of this, Party’s senior leadership, particularly the Badal family, is deep worried and wants to boost the party by reshuffling its structure.
