:dateline:Nankana Sahib Sikh Teerath Yatree Jatha (NNSTYJ) has written to the Sri Akal Takht Sahib Jathedar to call Sarbat Khalsa at Gurudwara Nankana Sahib on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji to resolve the sensitive issue of Nanakshahi Calendar.
President of the Jatha, Swaran Singh said, “Generally, all prominent Sikh leaders from various countries gather at the birth place of the first Sikh Guru on the occasion and that is the best venue for Sarbat Khalsa.
NNSTYJ has been regularly sending Sikh pilgrims to Pakistan and has also been allotted quota of devotees by Pakistan government on the lines of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC). Chairman of the group Pritam Singh Bhatia said the Jatha has also begun a movement to contact like-minded organizations in India and abroad to collectively urge the Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh to convene Sarbat Khalsa.
Former president of Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGPC) Bishan Singh has reacted over the letter, “This is a good idea. We will welcome any such move.”
