Team Of Delhi Sikh Committee Reaches Hyderabad, Assures Full Support To Sikhs

:dateline:�Taking strong note of the incident of burning of a “Nishan Sahib” (Sikh religious flag) at a Gurdwara in Sikh Chavni locality of Kishanbagh area in Hyderabad on Wednesday, a high-level delegation of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC), led by its president Manjit Singh GK, reached Hyderabad for a damage control. Besides GK, the delegates include DSGMC general secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa and Puneet Chandok.

After talking to Sikhs of the area, GK told TOI that religious sentiments of the community were hurt and amity between two communities had suffered. He stressed on the need of taking local Muslim community into confidence so that peace and harmony could be restored. Sirsa said there were 200 and 800 houses of Sikhs and Muslims, respectively, in the area. “In such a situation, police and district administration has a vital role. I appeal to them to be on alert till the situation is diffused,” he said.

GK also assured all help to the Sikhs. He said that the delegation also met Andhra Pradesh governor E S Lakshmi Narasimhan. He said that Cyberabad police commissioner C V Prasad assured that things would not be allowed to go out of control and police were ensuring peace and harmony between the two communities.

Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has also constituted a three-member panel that would visit Hyderabad and take a first-hand account of the incident. SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar said that the committee comprising Sukhdev Singh Bhaur, Karnail Singh Panjoli and Rup Singh would reach Hyderabad on Friday.
