Kanwarpal Singh further stated, “since then there has been change in political leadership with some Sikhs at the helm of affairs both at centre and the state. This however has not healed our wounds of June 84.”
“A new dimension has been added this time with disclosure of involvement of British government in planning the attack. In past Sikhs had no knowledge of British involvement however the complicity of USSR and Israel in supporting the Indian government remained on the lips of every Sikh,” said Kanwarpal Singh. “Army assault code named Operation Blue Star was not something sudden, something unexpected, the Indian government led by its Prime Minster Indira Gandhi took advice and other forms of support from world powers including the UK six months prior to the actual date of the attack. The complicity of the then UK government in planning the attack has jolted the Sikh Nation. Till date select information has come out,” he added.
Kanwarpal Singh appreciated the Sikh Diaspora especially British Sikhs who are observing the 30th anniversary on June 8 at a large scale. In addition to UK, similar protests are being planned in New York and California in United States of America the same day.
