:dateline:In the case of hurting Sikh sentiments by distorting Gurbani, the Court issued a notice to controversialShiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Badal (B) leader Bikram Majithia after hearing the petition filed against him. Judicial Magistrate Pardeep Singhal has asked Majithia to submit his reply by July 28, 2014.
Majithia put the name ofBharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Arun Jaitley in a Shabad of Guru Gobind Singh during an election meeting held in support of Jaitley at Sri Amritsar.
Punjab and Haryana High court lawyer Advocate Mandeep Kaur filed petition against him that termed the blasphemous act of Majithia to be a violation of section 295-A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The petition demanded punishment of Majithia, and sought an apology from him before the court. The petition read that no one has the right to distort Gurbani.
Although, Majithia obtained relief from Sri Akal Takht Sahib which is under control of Badal family, by getting a mild Tankhah (religious penance), the petition worsened his condition.
