AMRITSAR SAHIB—Sri Akal Takht Sahib appointed Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh has called meeting of Five Singh Sahiban (highest presidium of Sikhs) on May 1, 2014 to discuss the matter of sacrilege to Bani of Sri Guru Gobind Singh committed by the  highly controversial Akali Dal (Badal) minister Bikram Majithia in an election meeting.

Providing such information, the office in charge of Sri Akal Takht, Bhupinder Singh, condemned the rumors that Bikram Majithia has not been summoned at Sri Akal Takht Sahib. He said that Jathedar Akal Takht has clearly said that the meeting will deliberate on various religious matters including the Bikram Majithia issue.

Clearly, such condemnation was made especially to prevent any potential damage to Majithia before polling. However, Majithia’s political reputation has been damaged to a great extent so far, as he committed grave sacrilege of Gurbani which cannot be tolerated by Sikhs. Bhupinder Singh further said that the highest presidium will also comprised all five Takhts of Sikhism.

Although, Giani Gurbachan Singh has not clearly summoned  Majithia, he has said to media persons that Majithia could be called in to the meeting if needed.
