Akalis Copy Ghandian Topi Culture of Aam Aadmi Party

Topi 1SANGRUR, Punjab—The Gandhian Topi (Cap) culture which is being spread by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) among Sikhs, seems to be bearing dire consequences. Its impact is not limited only to supporters of AAP, but also extends to Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD). Affected by AAP, workers and supporters of SAD have also been seen wearing Gandhian Topsi during rallies. This kind of trend is hurting the concept of Dastar (Turban) in Sikhi.

SAD’s ideology is deteriorating at present as it is traditionally a Sikh Party, and its core base still lies with Sikhs. Its old leaders and workers were very committed Sikhs and followed the Sikh principals with full determination. In addition, they sacrificed even their lives for Panth and Punjab. These old Akali leaders were not only the politicians, but missionaries also.

Shamefully, the present leaders of this historical party are adopting the Topi culture with a new Orange color. Sukhdev Dhindsa, the Sangrur constituency SAD candidate’s accommodation of this kind of culture is going against Sikh tenets. Words can be read on these Topi caps, Sadi vote Dhindsa Lai  meaning “We will vote Dhindsa”.
