SANGRUR, Punjab—Bhagwant Mann, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate from Sangrur has alleged that Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Badal (B) workers interrupted his election campaign early in the day today, and blocked the way of AAP supporters. Mann was scheduled to tour several key villages in Sangrur to seek support for his Lok Sabha campaign however Akali workers made it impossible for them to move for almost three hours.
The AAP candidate has alleged that after the whole day had gone in vain, it would be difficult to recover with elections coming up soon. He alleged however, that he would pray at the feet of Guru Granth Sahib at Gurdwara Mastuana Sahib so that the present day “Baabars” could be brought to justice. Bhagwant Mann further stated that the incident today has exposed the true face of the ruling Government, which is no different from that of Ahmed Shah Abdali, a tyrant ruler of Punjab, like Baabar, whose regime was uprooted by the Khalsa forces.
Bhagwant Mann has alleged that the Akali workers were not pleased at how Sukhdev S. Dhindsa’s name was brought up again, and again, in election speeches. Dhindsa is the Akali Dal candidate from Sangrur who is fighting a tough battle against Bhagwant Mann.
Bhagwant Mann has received much support across Sangrur, however it’s not certain that he will be able to convert his supporters into voters on election day.
