Fresno Sikhs to Address Widespread Bullying Across Schools in California and Nation

18133_mainFRESNO, CA, USA—Recent news of widespread bullying of Sikh students in Fresno, California, has left many in the community worried about their children.  As per a survey titled “Go Home Terrorist — A Report on Bullying Against Sikh American School Children” 2 out of 3 Sikh children are bullied at school in Fresno.

To tackle this problem, local Sikhs are organizing an Open Forum Discussion at Fresno State University on Thursday, April 10, 2014.

The event will take place from 5:30pm-7:00pm at Alice Peters Auditorium (5245 N. Baker Ave, Fresno CA 93740).  All attendees are requested to park legally.  Parking will be free with code 269415.

Simran Kaur, representative of The Sikh Coalition, along with Jim Yovino, Superintendent, Fresno County Office of Education, will be addressing the problem.  Local community members and students are also expected to share their opinion.

Many Sikh families are expected to take part in this forum that is open to everyone.  Bullying of Sikh students is prevalent in all parts of the country, however it is very rare to see it being addressed.
