Sri Guru Granth Sahib Varsity to Start Nine New Courses

FATEHGARH SAHIB, Punjab—Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University (SGGSWU)SGGSWU will be starting nine new courses including, MSc in botany and zoology, B.Tech. civil engineering, MA in history, political science, and music vocal, Bachelor in physiotherapy, Bachelors in physical education, M.Com, and B. Architecture. The university syndicate met and granted approval for the courses.

The syndicate assembled at Sri Kalgidhar Niwas, Sector 27-B, Chandigarh under the chairmanship of vice-chancellor Dr. Gurmohan Singh Walia. Avtar Singh president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), and chancellor of the university, attended the meeting as well. Also permitted will be the establishment of a Sikh heritage, and a cultural center at the university in order to collect, and digitize, the information regarding historical buildings, palaces, and towns established by the Sikh Gurus. It will also locate, and digitize, historical articles, and historical literature.

A budget of ₹ 723.4 million was passed with a deficit of ₹ 29.6 million. A special focus was given in the budget for financial year 2014-15 to for research, and entrepreneurship, development. For this purpose, industrial sheds will be provided to the students on the university campus which will act as incubation centers for the students to start their own ventures.

The sports policy of the university was also approved in the meeting which contained various types of fee concessions, free hostel accommodation, cash prizes, and incentives for the outstanding sports persons.
