The disclosure made by Amrinder Singh created major embarrassment for his opponent Arun Jaitley who is contesting the Lok Sabha poll as a BJP candidate who later stated that “Operation Blue Star” was a wrong step taken by the Indira Gandhi government. Captain said that Arun Jaitley should not evade  the issue, but make clear his stand. He also asked BJP state unit to make clear its own stand on the memorial of June 1984 holocaust.

LK Advani wrote in his autobiography, My Country My Life, that he himself had pressured the Indira Gandhi Government to take such deadly action.

The Captain also targeted Parkash Badal by pointing out that he too advised the Indira Gandhi Government to attack Sri Darbar Sahib on March 26, 1984.
